We All Have One, You know the one. That old cotton tee you’ve slept in for years — thin, soft, a little droopy, maybe one wash away from retirement. It used to be crisp white; now it’s a faded pearl gray. And yet, every time you put it on, it feels like home. That, my friend, is the magic of a knit.

Most people don’t realize that cotton can be made two very different ways: woven or knit. The difference isn’t just technical — it completely changes how a fabric feels, breathes, and behaves.

Why We Love Woven Cotton

Wovens are the classic sleepwear fabrics you already know: percale, poplin, crepe, sateen, seersucker, chambray, twill, flannel, and woven waffle.

Weaving is one of the most common methods of textile production, forming fabric by interlacing two distinct sets of yarns or threads at right angles. The two sets of threads include the longitudinal-running warp’ and the lateral-running weft’ (also known as ‘filling’). Different ways of interweaving these threads will result in varying characteristics of the cloth.

They’re structured and breathable, great for pajamas and nightgowns that keep their shape.
They don’t stretch much, so they drape neatly and feel cool against the skin.
They’re long-lasting — especially when made from long-staple cotton like ours.

Wovens are the “crisp white shirt” of the sleepwear world: elegant, timeless, and always appropriate.

Why We Love Knits (Especially Jersey & French Terry)

When it’s new, it drapes beautifully; when it’s old, it becomes pure heaven. Sure, jersey can lose a little shape over time — the neckline droops, the fabric thins, the seams wave a bit. But after a hundred washes, what’s left is the soul of cotton: featherlight, smooth, and perfectly broken-in. That’s why so many women reach for an old cotton tee at bedtime. It’s soft, breathable, and forgiving. It might not look fancy, but it feels exactly right.

French Terry: The Lounge-Ready Upgrade. Our favorite mid-weight knit.

Unlike towel terry, which has big loops on both sides, French Terry has tiny loops inside and a smooth face outside.

Ours is an 85% cotton / 15% synthetic blend, which adds just enough stretch for movement and keeps it from feeling bulky.
It’s what makes our robes and lounge pieces cozy yet light — warm without the weight, structured enough to look good on a Zoom call.
French Terry is that perfect middle ground between polished and pajama.
You can curl up with a book or greet the UPS driver without a second thought.

Why Knits and Wovens Feel So Different

It’s all in the structure. Wovens are made for airflow and crispness. Perfect if you run warm at night or love a classic tailored pajama look.
Knits are made for movement and softness. They stretch with you, hug you, and always feel gentle on skin
