Dear Sweat Pants, It’s Over
We need to talk.
It’s not me, it’s you.
For years, you were my comfort. My soft place to land. But somewhere along the way, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and realized the truth: you make me look like I’ve given up. And I haven’t.
You were fine in my 30s, maybe even my 40s. But now? I deserve better. I care too much about how I feel at home — and how I look when I dash out for errands — to keep settling.
So, Sweats, this is goodbye.
Because I’ve found something new.
My new loungewear is softer than cashmere, but without the fussy care. It fits beautifully, not like you — all baggy and stretched in the wrong places. And it’s versatile: chic enough for a coffee run, cozy enough for a Netflix night, and even polished enough for a red-eye flight (where you always made me look like a slob).
Here’s the thing, Sweats: I still want comfort. I always will. But I refuse to sacrifice style to get it. And that’s why you’re out.
So go back in the drawer. Or better yet, the donation pile. I’ve moved on.
With love (but mostly relief),
P.S. Don’t feel bad, Sweats. You’ll always have a home at the gym… oh wait, I don’t wear you there either.
