What Is Suvin Cotton?
Suvin is an extra-long-staple (ELS) cotton grown exclusively in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was developed in the 1970s by crossing two legendary cottons: Sea Island cotton, native to the West Indies, and Sujata, a high-performing Indian variety.
The result? A cotton so fine and long that it can be spun into incredibly smooth, strong, and silky yarns. Suvin’s staple length can reach up to 38–40mm, placing it in the same rare category as the finest Egyptian Giza 45 or certified Sea Island cotton.
Its fibers are also exceptionally thin and uniform, meaning the yarns contain fewer protruding ends—resulting in a smoother, more refined fabric with a natural sheen and almost zero pilling.
